Our Frequently Asked Questions about Turtle Bluff Escape
1. "What does 'Off-Grid Solar' mean for my stay?"
Off-Grid Solar means you get the best of both worlds: 100% sustainable energy without the typical island power fluctuations. Our system is a high-capacity solar array with a robust battery backup. You’ll enjoy air conditioning, appliances, and lights just like a traditional home, but with the peace of mind that your footprint is light and your power is stable, even during local grid outages.
2. "Is the internet reliable enough for remote work?"
Starlink internet is an excellent 250M “work from home” solution. Nobody needs to know you’re working in paradise unless you inspire jealousy by boasting. We know that any one provider can be a gamble, so we’ve installed dual-source internet (Starlink paired with a local high-speed provider). This redundancy ensures that if one service wavers, the other kicks in. It’s perfect for digital nomads, video conferencing, or streaming your favorite movies in 4K from the pool deck.
3. "How 'accessible' is the home for guests with mobility needs?"
Turtle Bluff was designed with ease of movement in mind. The living room, kitchen, and the primary suite are located on the accessible ground floor. All of the ground floor doors are 36” wide and there are no steps required to move from the driveway into the house or out onto the infinity pool deck, making it an ideal choice for multi-generational families or guests who prefer to avoid stairs.
4. "How far is Turtle Bluff from the beach and town?"
While you enjoy total privacy at Turtle Bluff, you aren’t isolated. There are beaches a quarter mile east and west of the point. Downtown Christiansted is 5 miles away (7 driving miles) for world-class dining and shopping, while Point Udall is 5 miles to the east. The entire island is 22 miles end-to-end, and you will need a rental car (Jeeps are fun!) to explore St Croix properly.
5. "What makes the pool 'Infinity Edge'?"
The pool at Turtle Bluff is designed with a vanishing edge that creates a seamless visual transition between the pool water and the Caribbean Sea when active. It offers an unobstructed panoramic view, making you feel like you are swimming right into the horizon.
6. "Is the water safe to drink?"
In keeping with our eco-friendly mission, Turtle Bluff harvests rainwater via a cistern system which is then treated through a multi-stage UV filtration and sediment system. It’s clean, filtered, and safe to drink from the tap, reducing the need for single-use plastics during your stay. In addition, the kitchen sink and refrigerator ice-maker have a secondary filter system to improve water flavor and improve ice cube quality.
